Working wet-on-wet with natural mineral pigments, I let the blue-grays build gradually until both birds felt present and alive on the paper.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis original is part of my Oh, to Fly! collection. My MFA training at the New York Academy of Art gave me the compositional tools to paint two large birds sharing a frame without either one diminishing the other — the balance between them is as deliberate as the balance within each bird's anatomy.
