Roseate Spoonbill — Welcome
From the Collection Oh, to Fly!
This roseate spoonbill print captures the most dramatically colorful wading bird in North America. Roseate spoonbills are pink — not the soft blush of a flamingo but a vivid, almost tropical range from shell to deep rose. That color comes from carotenoid pigments in the crustaceans they eat, and it intensifies with age: the oldest birds wear the brightest plumage. Their flat, spatulate bill sweeps through shallow water in wide arcs, and in flight they’re unmistakable.
I paint spoonbills freehand with Kissho Gansai mineral pigments on archival cotton rag paper. The pinks require multiple wet-on-wet washes, each pass deepening the color until it has the glow of the living bird. The contrast between the soft plumage curves and the angular legs and bill creates a natural tension that makes every composition dynamic. Each giclée is printed in my Pawtucket studio, color-matched to the original.
Spoonbill prints are natural focal points — they bring immediate warmth and energy to living rooms, dining rooms, and any wall that needs a conversation starter.

Materials: Prints of my original, handmade pieces are made using only archival inks on heavyweight archival rag paper by Moab designed to last a lifetime. Learn more about my materials and process.
Framing: All work is elegantly framed in pristine white handmade wooden frames. The frames are 1.5" deep and handcrafted from solid wood by my favorite local framer.
A Note About Your Print's Edges: Each print arrives with a thin 1/8" white border all around—this bit of breathing space ensures that more of the image remains visible when framed, as standard framing techniques can obscure the edges.
If you prefer your image printed edge-to-edge without this margin, simply add a note with your order requesting "full-frame printing" and I'll happily accommodate.
My promise is to deliver your art exactly as you envision it in your space.
