What paper do you use?
Arches Paper Making paper since 1492 - 100% cotton - made with traditional methods of sizing and moulds - resistent to sratchs, tearing and maintaining its white color. The cylinder mould process combined with the use of a natural raw material – cotton – produces very high quality paper that is as good as the finest handmade papers. Arches uses linters to make its papers. Linters, an invaluable by-product of cotton, are the fine, silky fibres on the seeds (the long fibres from the cotton flower are used to make the textile). The sizing is heavy enough to let you really work with the paper. The water used in the processs is a natural spring ensuring no cantaminates in the water. The white is from the color of the cotton to ensure no yellowing of the paper.

I use photos as referece Materials. Spending 20% of my creative time collecting images and watching videoa of birds. When I am outside I watch. I use the Merlin App to help identify and spot birds. This way I understand and get to know their movements and behaviors without the distaction of a phone or through a lens (which distorts natural our natural way of seeing). About Holly
Why birds?
Holly’s fascination with birds started outside her studio window’s mulberry tree. When it fruited, the birds descended on it en masse. Suddenly, she had a front-row seat to their private lives. She instantly picked up on similarities to people, such as greed or clumsiness. Birds are clearly caring parents, pesky siblings, teachers, makers, and mates. They’re so much like us.
Holly’s art captures the animals’ constant motions, revealing hidden wonders of their evolution that we can learn from and enjoy. Their miraculous engineering takes many forms: the mesmerizing maneuvers and enchanting grace of hummingbirds, the contortion of the peregrine falcon (the fastest diver in the world), or the soundless flight of great owls.
